A strong earthquake struck in the Molucca Sea near Indonsia on Thursday morning, prompting a tsunami alert that was later lifted.

One person was killed from falling rubble in the Manado area of Indonesia, Reuters reported, cited local media.

U.S. authorities had issued a tsunami warning for the coast of Indonesia, with smaller waves possible in other areas incuding Japan, but the alert was lifted later in the morning.

The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a “tsunami forecast” warning of slight sea level changes for the nation’s Pacific coast, but this alert level does not predict damage in the nation.

The magnitude 7.4 quake struck off Indonesia at 7:48 a.m., according to the JMA.
