PITTSFIELD — The “magic hour” — the liminal space between day and night, during which Gregory Crewdson photographs — is about to happen. 

“We’re 5 minutes out,” a staticky voice announces over a wireless communication system to the 50 crew members stationed around the back of Harte’s Package & Variety Store, on Dalton Avenue, now a set for tonight’s shoot.
