Not technically being a part of the Devil Wears Prada sequel won’t stop Adrien Grenier from getting his bag. Here he is talking about not being asked to participate in the movie in an ad for Starbucks. After reminding us of his exclusion from “a certain sequel,” the bit continues with Grenier harassing Starbucks patrons with “a toast to Nate.” Then, deciding it’s better we leave Nate in 2006, Grenier concludes, “let’s keep this good energy going,” because the product he’s hawking is a Starbucks Energy Refresher. If there’s anything we’ve learned from this rollout, it’s that a Devil Wears Prada 2 tie-in can be used to sell practically anything.
The ad is also poking fun at Grenier, a little bit, who has spoken about not being in The Devil Wears Prada 2 several times. He told Page Six, “Obviously, it was a disappointment that I didn’t get the call to be in the sequel, but I also understand there’s some backlash with Nate, the character, so that might have something to do with it.” He also defended Nate in an interview with People, and suggested Nate should get his own movie. “I’d like to see him, see what his character does, beyond, as a spinoff movie,” he said. But until that day comes, there is always spon.
