MULTNOMAH COUNTY, Ore. (KATU) — Multnomah County is rolling out a new way to help rural residents get around, launching free shopping shuttles this spring for communities like Corbett and Sauvie Island.

The service will run twice a month, connecting people to stores, grocery runs, and essential services.

The service comes after months of community input. Officials say it’s about improving access, independence, and safety, especially in areas with limited transit options.

The service is funded by the statewide transportation improvement fund.
