This summer brings the United States’ 250th birthday, and here in the Chippewa Valley, area museums are teaming up to explore the region’s place in the national story.
CHIPPEWA VALLEY (WQOW) – This summer brings the United States’ 250th birthday, and here in the Chippewa Valley, area museums are teaming up to explore the region’s place in the national story.
The Chippewa Valley Museum, Chippewa Area History Center and Menomonie’s Rassbach Museum will each have special exhibits this summer. Each museum’s exhibit will tell a specific story about the Chippewa Valley’s place in the United States’ 250 years of existence.
“You need to know your story and your roots, where you are right here and now, but you should also know how you are connected to the broader community and to the state and the nation and to the world really, because we all have to work together in this world,” Carrie Ronnander, the director of the Chippewa Valley Museum said. “So how do you fit? Local history museums help tell you and help show you how you fit.”
The exhibits will open in May and last through the summer. The Chippewa Valley Museum’s exhibit will open May 15, while the other exhibits will have different opening dates in May.
