The 2026 NFL Draft is less than two weeks away in Pittsburgh. The Steelers are picking 21st, and they’ve got some areas of need. Could they address the offensive line with a pick at either left guard or left tackle? They still need to add more depth at wide receiver, plus getting an elite young talent at the position could pay dividends for years to come. What about continuing to build the defensive line?

Beat writer Mark Kaboly still believes the Steelers will target a wide receiver at 21. He’s also got a name in mind, and this wide receiver has already been in Pittsburgh for a pre-draft visit.

“Honestly, I really like Denzel Boston,” Kaboly said Friday afternoon on 93.7 The Fan. “I think he’ll be there. I think he’s that big-bodied guy. Even though it’s a different coaching staff, I think still the scouting department looks at it the same way, the combat-catch guy. Look at the two wide receivers they have now in [Michael] Pittman [Jr.] and [DK] Metcalf, guys who can block.”

PM Team co-host Chris Mueller pressed Kaboly on that very point. Would the Steelers actually want three larger wide receivers? Wouldn’t they rather have some variety, like some sort of smaller, burner type? Kaboly thinks the Steelers prefer bigger bodies, and he pointed to Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy’s own words as proof.

When I looked at wide receivers in this year’s draft who meet McCarthy’s historical drafting vision for the position, Denzel Boston’s name came up. He fell into McCarthy’s range for almost every single metric, except for height. At 6-4, Boston exceeded the range (6-0 to just under 6-3).

That fits what McCarthy said at the recent NFL owners meetings, though. He wants big targets who make life easier on the quarterback. Denzel Boston does that. When Alex Kozora studied Boston’s film, he saw a receiver who attacked the ball and made catches away from his body. He’s got a big catch radius. That means quarterbacks don’t need to be pinpoint accurate to ensure Denzel Boston catches the ball.

Then, as Kaboly said about DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr., Denzel Boston has the size and want-to to be a good run blocker. Sounds like a Steelers wide receiver.
