EDEN, N.C. (WGHP) — A search is underway for a man accused of breaking into a home and stealing a shotgun on Sunday, according to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.
At around 9:30 a.m. Sunday, the RCSO responded to a home break-in call in a subdivision off of Harrington Highway near Yount Road.
A homeowner said after taking care of her horses at a nearby barn, she returned home and found a man standing in front of the residence holding a shotgun, which was reportedly stolen from the home.
The suspect is a white man, approximately six feet tall and weighs around 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a light blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a ball cap.

The sweatshirt and ball cap have since been recovered. According to witnesses in the area, the suspect is now wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. They are armed with a long gun-type of firearm, believed to be a shotgun stolen from the victim’s residence.
The RCSO set up a perimeter in the air and began a canine search with assistance from the Eden Police Department and the Reidsville Police Department canine units. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is also assisting.
