Netflix’s move into sports continues, this time with the streamer netting national soccer rights for Mexico. It has inked a four-year deal for the Concacaf Nations League Finals and the Concacaf Gold Cup tournaments.

These are the flagship events organized by the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, better known as Concacaf. The competitions see national teams face off.

Soccer is massively popular in Mexico and the country’s national team are the current Nations League champions, having beaten Panama in the final last year in a match hosted at SoFi Stadium in California.

Mexico, which is a host country for this year’s World Cup, is also the reigning Concacaf Gold Cup winner. That tournament is for national teams from North America.

The Netflix deal kicks in next year and runs for four years, meaning it will be the exclusive home in Mexico for the 2027 and 2029 editions of both competitions.

The fifth edition of the Concacaf Nations League Finals is scheduled for March 2027 with matches taking place at SoFi Stadium. The 19th edition of the Concacaf Gold Cup, meanwhile, will be played next summer.

“We are very excited to partner with Netflix in Mexico as we continue to strengthen how fans connect with our premier national team competitions,” said Philippe Moggio, Concacaf General Secretary. “We know that in Mexico, the passion for football is truly unique, and this agreement allows us to bring these competitions closer to millions of fans through a new platform. It also reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality access to tournaments that mean so much to our region.”

Netflix Latin America is working on a host of soccer-related projects ahead of the World Cup. As well as several docs it has Mexico 86, a Diego Luna movie about how the country landed hosting rights to the titular edition of the tournament.

“At Netflix, we are increasingly investing in live events that connect with our audience’s greatest passions, and football is, without a doubt, the passion that unites us as Mexicans,” said Carolina Leconte, Vice President of Content for Mexico and Latin America Acquisitions at Netflix.

“Concacaf national team matches bring together millions of fans in Mexico like few other events can. We are thrilled that, over the coming years, fans in Mexico will be able to experience the Concacaf Nations League Finals and the Concacaf Gold Cup exclusively on Netflix, with no additional fees.”
