Six matches are scheduled on Day 3 of the WTA 500 in Stuttgart. Iga Swiatek will play for the first time since crashing out in the second round of the Miami Open in a match against former champion Laura Siegemund. Who will advance to the next round?

WTA Stuttgart Day 3 Predictions
Jasmine Paolini vs Zeynep Sonmez

Head-to-head: first meeting

Paolini is fresh from steering her country to the 2026 Billie Jean King Cup Finals later this year, where they will attempt to complete a three-peat. She needs to translate that winning form to Tour-level competition. The 30-year-old has lost seven of her 15 matches at the WTA level this season. That is a concerning statistic considering she was in double digits on match wins at this time last year. Sonmez motored through the qualifying draw without losing a set, but this will be a huge step up in class. Paolini is simply the more proven clay-court player and is better at controlling rallies.
Prediction: Paolini in 2

Alycia Parks vs Noma Noha Akugue

Head-to-head: first meeting

Noha Akugue fell in qualifying in each of her two previous trips to Stuttgart. But she will make her long-awaited main draw debut thanks to a wild card. The German has been in near-immaculate form on the ITF level this season, where she’s contested three finals and bagged two titles. Parks outplayed Viktoriya Tomova in the final round of qualifying, where she hammered 11 aces and won 72% of first-serve points. If the American brings similar or better serving numbers into this match, the outcome tilts heavily in her favor.
Prediction: Parks in 3

Iga Swiatek vs Laura Siegemund

Head-to-head: Swiatek 2-0 Siegemund

There is so much anticipation as Swiatek is set to play her first match under new coach Francisco Roig. Swiatek aims to end her trophyless start to the season in Tour-level events. And the Pole couldn’t have handpicked a perfect venue and surface to do so. She has a formidable record in this tournament, winning the title twice and reaching at least the quarterfinal stage in each of the last two editions. While Laura Siegemund has solid numbers at her home event (former champion), her game hardly troubles Swiatek. Expect the third seed to progress serenely.
Prediction: Swiatek in 2
