The Rouen tournament moves into the Round of 16 after some eye-grabbing results earlier in the week. Here’s an interesting fact: In a set of nine matches spanning Tuesday afternoon through early Wednesday, only one seeded player won a match in straight sets: Marta Kostyuk over Diane Parry. Maria’s win over Jacquemot was impressive, but Salkova’s win over Blinkova might be the better result when comparing these two players. Maria’s win might be more of a reflection of how much Elsa Jacquemot is struggling. Salkova might be the more in-form player; at the very least, she hadn’t lost eight of nine going into this week. Salkova should be where any betting strategy leans in this match. Find an angle of some kind. The simplest one is probably the best one.

That being said, Salkova winning decisively (-1.5 sets) is a value bet for sure.

Bondar – Oliynykova: 10:00

Anna Bondar and Oleksandra Oliynykova both needed three sets to win their first-round matches in Rouen. Bondar fought past Harmony Tan, while Oliynykova escaped Lilli Tagger. Oliynykova has stacked a number of wins in her last eight matches, but many of those wins came at the ITF level. Bondar hasn’t won as much as Oliynykova in recent weeks, but she has played higher-level tournaments. This is a close match and a tough one to call.

The player to bet on here is Bondar. She beat Oliynykova twice several years ago before losing head-to-head to Oliynykova earlier this year. The hunch here is that Bondar will make adjustments and figure out the matchup. She has played stronger competition for most of the 2026 tennis season. That difference in the quality of her opponents will help Bondar pull out the win. She is priced well, so in a close match, the underdog becomes easier to ride with. That win by Baptiste wasn’t easy, but it’s more impressive than some might think. Iryna Shymanovich looked very good in beating Linda Fruhvirtova in the first round. Baptiste is the much higher-ranked player, but Shymanovich displayed good form in her previous match. This is an intriguing contest.

Best Bet to Make

It is notable that although the head-to-head has just two matches, Shymanovich won the first meeting in a somewhat tough yet routine match. Baptiste then crushed Shymanovich in the second meeting, a real blowout. That set of data points suggests that Baptiste saw something in Shymanovich’s game and figured her out. That’s why Baptiste winning by a comfortable margin on the game spread makes sense. I figure -5.5 games is about the limit of that, but feel free to adjust accordingly.
