Katy Perry Asks for Prayers During Mid-Concert Medical Emergency originally appeared on Parade.
Katy Perry asked for prayers after a young fan named McKenna collapsed on stage mid-concert in Detroit, Mich.
On Sunday, Aug. 3, a small group of attendees were invited to join the pop star on the stage during one of her Lifetimes Tour shows. They were about to help Perry perform “The One That Got Away” when the girl seemingly fainted, Billboard reported.
After McKenna fell, Perry, her crew and medical team immediately tended to her, as seen in viral clips of the scary moment shared on social media.
The girl was eventually taken from the stage, and the “Roar” singer gathered with the other fans for a prayer. “Dear God, we pray for McKenna, that she will come back fully and brighter and better than ever. Amen,” she said.
Additionally, Perry commented to the audience, “It’s so much. Sometimes you’re so brave and you can get on stage, and it’s overwhelming. I understand that feeling,” per Billboard.
The singer, 40, later gave an update on McKenna while riding a giant butterfly. “McKenna’s doing great, by the way,” she assured the crowd.
Next, Perry will make a stop in Toronto for two shows on Aug. 5 and 6. She will wrap up the tour on Dec. 7 in Abu Dhabi.
