Sky News hosts Sophie Ridge and Wilfred Frost reported that Iran has announced no plans for the next round of US-Iran negotiations, putting the Trump ceasefire in jeopardy

Donald Trump has suffered a significant setback, as Sky News delivered the latest developments on the ongoing war with Iran.
The network’s hosts, Sophie Ridge and Wilfred Frost, anchored Monday’s (April 20) broadcast and revealed that Esmaeil Baghaei, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson, announced there are “no plans for the next round of negotiations” with President Trump.
She began, stating, “Let’s go to the Iran war because Iran has said this morning that its delegates won’t be returning to Pakistan for renewed peace talks with the US. The new development is a blow to what people were hoping for.” Frost continued, “That update was issued by the foreign ministry’s spokesperson in a press conference that’s still ongoing.

“He said that US proposals have been unserious and its demands unrealistic, and that is why they will not be joining the peace talks that, according to US reports, were meant to be restarting early this week.”
Ridge proceeded, “The backdrop to this press conference is the news that we’ve had overnight, which was the US seizing an Iranian-flagged tanker that was trying to break through America’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz last night. Iran said they want to retaliate for that.”

The anchor recognized that although the ceasefire between the US and Iran was already appearing unstable, “it’s now in real jeopardy.”
She continued, “US forces say they issued multiple warnings to the ship over a six-hour period.” The state-run IRNA news agency attributed Tehran’s non-attendance to “Washington’s excessive demands, unrealistic expectations, constant shifts in stance, repeated contradictions, and the ongoing naval blockade”.
This prompted Trump to issue additional warnings, cautioning that the nation will be “blown up” if they fail to agree on a new deal. “If they don’t sign this deal, the whole country is getting blown up,” he told Fox News.
He went on to state that “bridges and power plants will be targeted if Iran does not sign this agreement” in a post on Truth Social. The ceasefire was established on the basis that Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Yet, Iran swiftly backtracked on its commitment, with gunfire directed at ships navigating through the crucial waterway.

An enraged Trump posted, “Iran decided to fire bullets yesterday in the Strait of Hormuz – A Total Violation of our Ceasefire Agreement! Many of them were aimed at a French Ship, and a Freighter from the United Kingdom.
“That wasn’t nice, was it? My Representatives are going to Islamabad, Pakistan – They will be there tomorrow evening, for Negotiations.”
Since the network’s broadcast, a clip of the breaking news segment was shared on X, where viewers have weighed in. One user pointed out, “What we are witnessing is a dangerous level of information and psychological warfare in the conflict between US-Israel and Iran.”
A second person penned, “A concerning sign for diplomacy—statements like this show how uncertain the path forward remains, and it will likely depend on whether both sides can rebuild trust in the coming weeks.”
Someone else argued, “Trump has not has a plan from outset, and still doesn’t have one still!” with another adding, “The Iranians know this all too well. Trump is unreliable and negotiates on behalf of Israel.”
