Firefighters are battling a brush fire that ignited Tuesday afternoon in the area of Acorn Boulevard off Bermont Road in Charlotte County.The fire is approximately two miles away from the runways of the Punta Gorda Airport.The Florida Forest Service said units are responding in the area.According to FFS, the fire has grown to 45 acres and is 0% contained as of 6:03 p.m. Tuesday. FFS said one house was destroyed, and others were damaged.Charlotte County Public Safety said no injuries have been reported. Charlotte County Fire officials advised that there are no mandatory evacuations, but people are being asked to leave just in case.All of Southwest Florida is under a Red Flag Warning, which means critically dry conditions increase the risk of brush fires.Charlotte County Fire, FFS, Punta Gorda Fire, a Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office helicopter, and a strike team made up of Lee County agencies are on the scene.
