MIAMI GARDENS — After selecting a whopping 13-pick draft class over three days, the Miami Dolphins immediately got to work on signing undrafted rookies at the conclusion of the draft Saturday evening.
The Dolphins, according to a league source, agreed to terms with quarterback Mark Gronowski, running backs in Texas A&M’s Le’Veon Moss and Oregon State’s Anthony Hankerson, Michigan wide receiver Donaven McCulley Louisville defensive lineman Rene Konga and Wisconsin edge rusher Mason Reiger.
“It’s going on as we speak,” Dolphins GM Jon-Eric Sullivan said Saturday night as the draft concluded. “It’s always a fast and furious process post-draft. We have our targeted guys, and we’re in the process of trying to lock those guys up currently.”
Gronowski ends up in a Dolphins quarterback room with Malik Willis, Quinn Ewers and former North Dakota State standout Cam Miller.
Gronowski shined at South Dakota State, where he won two FCS national championships and went to Iowa for his senior season, where he completed 166 of 262 passes for 1,741 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions, while rushing for 545 yards and 16 more touchdowns.
Sullivan said the discussion for drafting a quarterback came up several times among their 13 picks from Thursday through Saturday, but the other option always won out in every instance.
Hankerson is from Boynton Beach and attended St. Thomas Aquinas High in Fort Lauderdale. He has had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons with 24 rushing touchdowns the past two years with the Beavers. He landed at Oregon State after previously playing for Colorado.
Moss has scored 21 touchdowns over the past three seasons with the Aggies. An October ankle injury impacted his final season at A&M.
Reiger (6-5, 251) bounced back from his 2024 knee injury at Louisville to register five sacks with the Badgers last season. He also had five with the Cardinals in 2023.
Konga (6-3, 298) had 29 tackles, five for loss, 1 1/2 sacks and six pass breakups for Louisville last season. He started his college career at Rutgers.
McCulley is another tall pass-catcher after the Dolphins drafted three receivers. He had 39 catches for 588 yards and three touchdowns after transferring from Indiana, where injury restricted him to play just four games as a reserve in 2024.
Miami’s 13 picks got the roster to 86 players. It can go up to 91 players, one more than usual, because one of them is tight end Seydou Traore through the international player program (England).
So, the Dolphins left the draft with five spots left for undrafted rookies without having to cut others already on the roster, but Sullivan said he plans to end up with eight to 10 undrafted players so some roster moves will need to be made.
