OTSEGO COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — The Gaylord chapter of the STOP, the State Police Outreach Partnership, is hosting its 5th annual golf outing at the Otsego Resort on June 26.

STOP started in 2022 with the goal to form relationships between state troopers and the community. MSP says that about $38,000 went back into the community last year.

“STOP is a resource for troopers to help with the immediate need for people. So, going above and beyond the call of service,” MSP Lieutenant Ashley Miller said. “We help a lot with domestic violence situations purchasing hotel rooms for individuals that need it. People experiencing homelessness, people run out of gas and we have the funds to help with that immediate need.”
