CLEVELAND (KPTV) – The Cleveland Guardians are calling up former Oregon State star infielder Travis Bazzana, the top pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, according to multiple reports.
The Beavers baseball program announced the promotion Monday night.
While the Guardians have not officially announced the transaction, the move is also being reported by ESPN Senior MLB Insider Jeff Passan.
The Cleveland Guardians are calling up former No. 1 overall pick Travis Bazzana, sources tell ESPN. Bazzana, 23, hit .287/.422/.511 in 24 Triple-A games this season and will take over at second base for a Guardians team that’s a half-game back of first in the AL Central.

The second baseman played three seasons for the Beavers from 2022-24, setting multiple program records – including career hits (251), doubles (52), home runs (45), stolen bases (66), and walks (180).
Bazzana, 23, represented his native country of Australia in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft started his professional career with the Lake County Captains (A+) to finish the 2024 season.
He ascended the minor league ranks all the way to AAA with the Columbus Clippers by the end of last season.
In 24 games for the Clippers in 2026, Bazzana is hitting .287 with two home runs, 11 RBIs, and 11 doubles.
Cleveland’s primary second baseman through the first month of the 2026 season has been 24-year-old Juan Brito, who is hitting just .176 in 51 at bats over 15 games.
