Colorado Public Radio has appointed Jessi Whitten as Program Director of adult alternative “Indie 102.3” KVOQ Denver, placing a longtime insider in charge of the station’s programming and strategic direction.
Whitten, who will begin her new role June 8, returns to the CPR music service after most recently serving as Director of Audience and Partnerships at Levitt Pavilion Denver. Her background includes more than a decade of experience in radio programming, artist development, and community engagement, with a strong emphasis on supporting local music scenes.
She is no stranger to “Indie 102.3.” Whitten has been involved with the station since its early days, holding roles as host, music director, and assistant program director. She also played a key role during the station’s transition from “OpenAir” to “Indie 102.3” following its 2019 rebrand, helping define its sound and expand its focus on emerging Colorado artists.
“After a rigorous national recruitment, it is clear that Jessi has the mix of passion, skills, experience and strategic mindset to help the team and the organization move Indie forward,” said Sean Nethery, Senior Vice President of Content and Planning at CPR.
“I am thrilled to rejoin this incredibly talented team on a dedicated basis to help bring the future of Indie 102.3 into focus,” Whitten said in the announcement.
Whitten succeeds Willobee Carlin, who exited the station in November 2025.
