Inter Miami remain focused on a deal to sign Manchester United midfielder Casemiro this summer, journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed.
The MLS side are pushing to sign the Brazilian international on a free transfer once his Old Trafford contract expires in June.
Despite Casemiro’s brilliant recent form, with the 34-year-old winning United’s Player of the Month award for April, Romano suggests the ‘world-class’ Brazilian is unlikely to make a U-turn on his future and stay at United.
The former Real Madrid star is United’s joint-second top scorer in the Premier League this season, with nine goals in 32 appearances.
Inter Miami Working on Casemiro Deal
Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that Inter Miami are focused on bringing Casemiro to MLS, with the Brazilian expected to leave United at the end of his contract.
“I am told that this is not changing. Casemiro is leaving Manchester United at the end of the season. At least as of today, that’s the situation.
“My understanding is that despite some calls from Saudi Arabia, MLS remains a strong, concrete, real possibility.
“I told you several times, also including Inter Miami in the conversation, and that remains the case.
“Inter Miami have been working on a deal to sign Casemiro since March. I maintain that Inter Miami really want to go for Casemiro.”
United are prioritising a replacement for Casemiro this summer, with Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Brighton’s Carlos Baleba among the potential targets.
The Red Devils are expected to bring in at least two new midfielders, as uncertainty remains over Manuel Ugarte’s future at the club.
The Uruguayan has struggled for regular minutes at Old Trafford this season and has attracted interest from Serie A clubs ahead of the summer.
Man Utd Remain Keen on Sandro Tonali
Manchester United remain interested in Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali ahead of the summer.
According to Romano, the Red Devils are keeping close tabs on the Italy international, who is open to switching Premier League clubs after the season.
Despite interest from Serie A sides, Romano believes a return to Italy for Tonali in 2026 is ‘absolutely impossible’, as Newcastle would demand a huge fee of ‘around €90m, €100m or €110m’.
Tonali is under contract with the Magpies until June 2028 and has made 50 appearances across all competitions this season, registering 10 goal contributions.
