The Spurs are hosting a pep rally at Hemisfair Sunday morning to kick off the team’s next stop on the road to a sixth NBA championship.
At 10 a.m., fans will gather at the Red McCombs Community Court, located next to the Tower of the Americas, to get pumped up for the Western Conference semifinals. The first 700 fans get free tacos from Taco Palenque. There will also be free coffee, T-shirts, car flags and other giveaways.
The Spurs announced a host of other team-sponsored festivities for the second round. Free watch parties at The Rock at La Cantera will continue for all of the team’s away games. There are 5,000 tickets available for each watch party, which fans must book online.
If fans are looking to upgrade their merch for the next round, the Spurs will host a pop-up shop on Commerce Street downtown on May 9.
For fans shelling out to go to the games at the Frost Bank Center, the giveaways continue. Just like in the first round, each seat comes with a free T-shirt. Game 1 will feature shirts with Fiesta colors, while Game 2’s tees bring a classic silver-and-black design.
Game 1 is set for Monday night at the Frost Bank Center, with the start time and broadcast details to be announced soon. The sixth-seeded Timberwolves are riddled by injuries, but they managed to beat the No. 2 seed Spurs twice in the regular season.
Game 2 will be on Wednesday night. If the series goes a full seven games, it will last until May 17.
