Kamga signs with McMurry University
Former Hancock College basketball player Jordan Kamga will return to his home of state of Texas to continue his scholastic and athletic career.
Kamga has signed with NCAA Division 3 McMurry University of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. McMurry is based in Abilene.
Kamga graduated from Denton High School in Denton, Texas. He played one season at Hancock. Kamga earned All-Western State Conference North Division Honorable mention after averaging five points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
His season high was the 16 points Kamga scored in a Hancock win over Hartnell last December. Kamga shot seven-for-eight from the field in that game.  Â
SMHS fundraiser slated
The Santa Maria High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee has scheduled a dinner and induction ceremony for the SMHS Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2025, along with a barbecue and silent auction fundraiser.
The dinner will take place in the SMHS cafeteria Friday, Aug. 22 at 5 p.m. Tickets for the dinner are $25 each. The induction ceremony will take place during halftime of the Aug. 22 Righetti-Santa Maria football game at Santa Maria’s Ralph Baldiviez Stadium that is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.

The SMHS Hall of Fame barbecue and silent auction will take place in Orcutt Saturday, Aug. 23 from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. Funds will be designated toward constructing the Santa Maria Wall of Fame inside Santa Maria’s Wilson Gym. The wall will display the names of all SMHA Athletic Hall of Fame members.
Tickets for the fundraiser are $100 each.
Seating is limited for both events, and tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Santa Maria Indians Fall Ball League
The Santa Maria Indians baseball club is sponsoring a Fall Ball league.

Current teams are Bombers Nevarez, Knights Majewski, St. Joes 2, Indians Tuckett, Warriors Roberson, Packers Rodriguez and Warriors 1, with the possible addition of one more team.Â
