DALLAS (SMU) – Mackenzie Lee was named to the United States team for the Arnold Palmer Cup, as announced by the GCAA on Wednesday. This year’s event is slated for July 3-5 at Tralee Golf Links in Ireland.
The Arnold Palmer Cup is a yearly team golf competition for golfers at the university level. It is contested by a United States team and an International team from everywhere outside of the United States. Each team is comprised of 12 men and 12 women. Lee is the first SMU women’s golfer to participate in the Palmer Cup. She joins Hank Kuehne (1998, 1999) and Bryson DeChambeau (2015) as Mustang golfers to appear in a Palmer Cup.
Lee has set 13 SMU records during her four years on the Hilltop. She has the two lowest single season scoring averages in SMU history with 71.31 in 2024-25 and 71.32 in 2023-24. She also has seasons that rank fourth and sixth. The North Little Rock, Arkansas native holds the SMU record for birdies with 504, shattering the previous record of 368.
The senior has nearly doubled the par or better rounds record at SMU. Lee has 88 with the next closest being her teammate Emily Odwin at 48. She has played more rounds than any Mustang with the most counting scores. Lee has the lowest career scoring average by a Mustang at 71.51. She also shot the lowest round in Mustang history with a 62 at the 2023 Jim West Challenge.
This season, Lee won for the first time with a victory at the hometown Huntington Bank Collegiate.
Lee and the Mustangs continue their spring campaign with the NCAA Waco Regional running May 11-13 at Ridgewood Country Club.
