F1 has recorded YoY viewership increase at every race except MiamiNascar has gone 14 straight races without 3m+ viewers, its longest streak on record
Formula One averaged 1.22 million viewers for last weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix on ESPN, the second-highest US audience for the event ever.
While Formula One could not hit the heights of the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2022, which averaged 1.25 million viewers, this year’s audience is an 11.2 per cent increase over last season’s race.
Formula One has now recorded a year-over-year (YoY) viewership increase in the US for every race this season outside of the Miami Grand Prix.
Full season viewership in the States is now at 1.36 million viewers, an increase on the 1.22 million viewers at the same stage last season. Average viewership for just the European races is now at 1.4 million viewers, comfortably the best performance for this region in the US since ESPN acquired the rights to Formula One in 2018.
This is also the first time this season that Formula One has recorded an average audience within one million viewers of Nascar on the same weekend. For context, Formula One achieved this feat four times last season but not until much later in the season.
