The Flyers will continue to miss their leading goal scorer from the regular season as they welcome the Hurricanes for Game 3 of this best-of-seven second-round playoff matchup.
Owen Tippett won’t play Thursday night because of an undisclosed injury. The 27-year-old winger hasn’t appeared in the series against the Carolina, which holds a 2-0 lead on the Flyers. Game 3 is at 8 p.m. ET on TNT, with coverage starting at 7:30 p.m. ET with Flyers Pregame Live on NBC Sports Philadelphia+.
Tippett has been participating in morning skates and practices since the series started. He practiced Wednesday and was on the ice Thursday morning. He has been considered day to day.

“He’s a big part of our game,” Sean Couturier said last Saturday night. “He’s big, fast, physical, great shot. That’s playoffs, some guys go down, you need guys to step up.”
In the regular season, Tippett had 28 goals and 51 points. He played banged up during the first round of the playoffs as the Flyers went on to beat the Penguins in six games.
The Flyers are also missing Noah Cates, who was ruled out for the rest of the series because of a lower-body injury. He had a team-best plus-26 rating in the regular season and put up a career-high 47 points.
Christian Dvorak is expected to play after not practicing Wednesday. Based off what we saw at practice, here’s how the Flyers’ lineup could look in Game 3. But we’ll know for certain come warmups.
