City of Butler home damaged by fire, investigation underway

A home was left charred and with serious damage after a fire broke out in the city of Butler on Mother’s Day. Fire Chief Chris Switala, with the Butler Bureau of Fire, told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 Sunday that crews were called to a home along the 900 block of Center Avenue around 10:30 a.m. following reports of a structure fire. Switala said the fire was deemed a 2-alarm right away due to the intensity of flames and smoke inside. Crews were on the scene for over an hour, working to contain flames and hotspots. Video later shared with Action News 4 by Steven Grigorovich showed the intense flames emitting from the home before fire crews arrived on scene.
