Kings had the highest odds of getting No. 7 pick at 25.5%
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The ping pong balls fell Sunday afternoon at the NBA Draft Lottery, and minutes after the process started the Sacramento Kings learned they will have the No. 7 overall selection.
The Kings finished this season tied for the fifth worst record in the NBA along with the Utah Jazz.
After losing a tiebreaker coin flip to Utah last month, the Kings held an 11.5% chance at the No. 1 overall pick. As a result, Sacramento had the highest odds of getting the No. 7 pick at 25.5%.
Next month’s draft is regarded as one of the most talented in recent memory with college stars such as AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Cam Boozer, Caleb Wilson, and others up for selection.
Washington, Utah, Memphis, Chicago, the Los Angeles Clippers, and Brooklyn all draft before the Kings.
This year’s NBA Draft is June 23-24 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Pervis Ellison is Sacramento’s only No. 1 overall pick which came in 1989.
