Prior to her signing with the Sky, Uzun played for the Phoenix Mercury — earlier in the 2025 season — and the Dallas Wings in 2024. Overseas, she played for the Turkish team Fenerbahçe S.K., winning a EuroLeague Championship with the team in 2024.
“Becoming Caitlin Clark” is out now!
Howard Megdal’s newest book is here! “Becoming Caitlin Clark: The Unknown Origin Story of a Modern Basketball Superstar” captures both the historic nature of Clark’s rise and the critical context over the previous century that helped make it possible, including interviews with Clark, Lisa Bluder (who also wrote the foreword), C. Vivian Stringer, Jan Jensen, Molly Kazmer and many others.
Uzun arrives to a franchise struggling at the guard position. Point guard Ariel Atkins just returned to the lineup on Tuesday after recovering from a leg injury for the past several weeks, and rookie Hailey Van Lith missed several games with an ankle injury.
“You can see her get a lot of minutes tonight,” Sky head coach Tyler Marsh told the press prior to the Sky’s Aug. 1 game at Wintrust Arena. During her debut with the Sky, Uzun notched five points, four rebounds and one assist in 17 minutes on the court. Chicago narrowly lost to the Golden State Valkyries, 73-66.
“Sev is just a solid player. I played with her overseas, and she’s played in this league, and I think it takes pressure off of our guards, allows them to get some good shots, and for post players, too,” Sky forward Elizabeth Williams said after the Valkyries game. Williams and Uzun both played for the Turkish club Fenerbahçe S.K. in the 2020–21 season.
Uzun told The Next that playing alongside former teammate Williams has helped ease the transition.
“I have someone … who knows me, and who knows what I can do, and is also a great post player who can pass and … that’s all you want as a point guard,” Uzun said. “And playing with her, having her on the court — [it’s] helped a lot.”

Uzun is still settling in, and told The Next that she feels like she still has a lot to learn.
“It’s been pretty fun. I didn’t have enough time to practice and be with the team, learn players and all that — or them learning me,” Uzun said.
“They’re just talking me through everything and just trying to support me” Uzun said. “ … And I’m just trying to give back.”
