FROM WXII 12 NEWS. THIS IS BREAKING NEWS. WE’RE FOLLOWING BREAKING NEWS OUT OF MOUNT AIRY THIS AFTERNOON. SURRY COUNTY EMS CONFIRMING TWO PEOPLE HAVE DIED AND TWO OTHERS ARE HURT FOLLOWING A CRASH. OUR JOSHUA DAVIS JOINING US LIVE FROM MOUNT AIRY RIGHT NOW. JOSHUA, WHAT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT WHAT UNFOLDED THERE TODAY? WELL, LINDSEY, YOU CAN SEE THAT WHERE I AM, THE ROAD IS NOW BACK. OPEN UP FROM WHERE I’M INITIALLY FROM WHERE WE’RE STANDING. WHEN WE INITIALLY GOT HERE, BACK TO OAKDALE STREET, BACK DOWN THIS PART OF THE ROAD WAS CLOSED FOR HOURS. NOW WE CAPTURED THIS STRIKING VIDEO OF CREWS MOVING THE WRECKED CARS. MOUNT AIRY POLICE AND SURRY COUNTY EMS CAN CONFIRM THAT TWO PEOPLE WERE KILLED IN THIS CRASH AROUND 142 THIS AFTERNOON. A POLICE LIEUTENANT I SPOKE TO ON SCENE TOLD ME THOSE DEATHS STEM FROM ONE OF THE CARS CATCHING ON FIRE. SURRY COUNTY EMS SAYS TWO OTHER PEOPLE INVOLVED WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL WITH NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES. AT THIS TIME, WE’RE STILL WAITING TO LEARN OF THE IDENTITIES OF THE VICTIMS. Surry County EMS says two people are dead and two more are injured after a crash on North Main Street and West Oakdale Street in Mount Airy.

We’re told the crash involved two vehicles. Officials say two people were pronounced dead at the scene and two patients were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
