Chennedy Carter, the mystifying star, made it clear she was uncomfortable speaking to reporters after not closing out the Las Vegas Aces’ win over the Atlanta Dream, storming out after one minute

Chennedy Carter couldn’t hide her emotions as she stormed out of the Las Vegas Aces’ postgame press conference Sunday.
Carter, the enigmatic star, helped the Aces take down the Atlanta Dream, her former team, 85-84, scoring 20 points with three assists and two rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench. That said, the 27-year-old played just over half of the fourth quarter and did not close the game.
Speaking to reporters after the game, the star appeared irked by that fact, as evidenced by her facial expressions during the press conference. Her actions came as she was poised to win an award at the end of the 2026 WNBA season, if she continues her play.

Taking the podium after her fellow star guard, Chelsea Gray, a visibly uncomfortable Carter was asked about the game, to which the latter replied: “I mean, I felt good about my game. Obviously, I want to help the team close in the fourth quarter if possible. But I think it was a good game. I think Chelsea Gray is doing what Chelsea does, making it happen on both ends.”
She then added when asked about the game again: “I’m still going through it. I’m a little bit disappointed. I’m happy we won. But yeah.”
Carter then turned to the Aces PR staff, quickly stood up, and left. Overall, she answered three questions, with her press conference lasting just over one minute.
Aces head coach Becky Hammon was asked about Carter’s demeanor after the game and explained why she opted to sit the star down the stretch.

“I haven’t talked to her, so that would be a conversation for me and her,” Hammon told reporters after the win. “Down the stretch, I went with the big defensive lineup. That was more the thought process.
“She didn’t do anything wrong. It’s just the way the game played out, and we’re about winning at the end of the game. So there’ll be times she’ll be out there. There’ll be other times where she won’t be out there.”
As for why the star acted the way she did, many on social media pondered why Carter very plainly made her thoughts known regarding Hammon’s decision to bench her in the waning moments of the game. That said, the 27-year-old took to Threads to explain her actions.
“I have family stuff going on relax dawg , i can be human . or im the only one not allowed to have feelings. you don’t know if a family member died anything you need to chill speaking on me,” her post read on the social media platform.

For Carter, this situation is just a chapter in her WNBA career thus far.
In 2020, Carter was drafted by the Dream No. 4 overall though her stint with the team last just one season after she was traded to the Los Angeles Sparks after she was suspended indefinitely for “conduct detrimental to the team.”
It was reported that the star was suspended as she wanted to fight another player who asked her to work on her attitude. In Los Angeles, she was waived after being benched for “poor conduct” during the 2022 season.
Carter did not play in the 2023 season and played only one season with the Chicago Sky, making her name known among Caitlin Clark’s fans. After one season playing overseas, she signed on with the Aces before the 2026 season.
