COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Looking for that cosmic moment that’s actually easy to spot? Thursday evening could be your opportunity.
If you step outside as the sun dips below the horizon Thursday evening, you’ll witness a rare planetary lineup that brings the moon, Jupiter, and Venus into view.

Shortly after the sun sets, look toward the west, and you’ll see the silvery crescent moon. From there, just shift your gaze a little lower to find Jupiter. Jupiter should be easy to spot with the naked eye. Jupiter will shine brightly, only to be outdone by Venus, which you’ll find sitting a little closer to the horizon.
Tonight’s lineup is a gradual progression to the conjunction of Jupiter and Venus. The two planets will slowly move closer and closer to one another, with the conjunction set to take place in early June.
