DENVER — One of Colorado’s largest hospital systems is closing three clinics in the Denver area, the company disclosed on Thursday.

Intermountain Health’s occupational medicine clinics in Wheat Ridge and Broomfield, plus a nonsurgical sports medicine clinic in Denver, will close on July 24. Staffing reductions will take place at other clinics as well, the company says.

In total, 36 employees will be cut on the Front Range, according to Intermountain Health.

The company announced the closures internally to employees on Thursday and confirmed the number of positions and locations involved to the Denver Business Journal after it inquired about the announcement.

“Intermountain Health is committed to providing the safest, high-quality care in the communities we serve. To maintain that commitment and strengthen long-term financial sustainability in an ever-changing healthcare industry, we made difficult decisions that will impact a small number of medical clinics and allow caregivers whose roles are impacted to apply for other open positions in the organization,” the Salt Lake City, Utah-based nonprofit said in a statement. “The large majority of our medical clinics remain open and ready to continue serving the community.”
