FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – A new mural is making its way to The Landing in downtown Fort Wayne.
International artist duo Studio Giftig unveiled the masterpiece at 206 Pearl Street on Friday afternoon.
It’s the latest project for Niels van Swaemen and Kaspar van Leek of the Netherlands, who say they’ve been traveling the world creating large-scale murals since 2007.
The pair says the mural’s design is inspired by Fort Wayne’s three rivers, while incorporating other elements of the city, including Johnny Appleseed.
21Alive News talked with the artists about what they enjoy most about creating murals.
“We love other parts like in the studio, this woman we photographed in our own studio, the apples we photographed in the studio, and then we make this image we have in mind, and it’s like a total process from the studio till here, and that’s all that we love, but in general, the connection with the people and the community.“
He says the woman in the mural represents the people in Fort Wayne.
The mural is expected to be complete within the next two days.
