The Indiana Fever must be glad that Caitlin Clark is healthy to start the 2026 season. Clark missed a whopping 31 games during the 2025 WNBA season after suffering a litany of injuries. She made headlines this weekend as the grand marshal at the Indy 500. But Clark recently admitted that she missed the biggest moment of the entire event.
Clark admitted that she left before the end of the race and missed the thrilling finish.
“Obviously, a really cool finish,” Clark said on Tuesday, per The Athletic’s James Boyd. “… I left before the race was over, but I was watching at home on TV, and I was screaming at the TV.”
Felix Rosenqvist won the Indy 500 in an incredible finish. He passed David Malukas on the final corner, barely beating him by 0.0233 seconds. It was the closest finish in Indy 500 history.
Clark clearly had a great time at the event. She gushed about the red carpet experience, explaining how exciting it was to see so many fans at the event.
“Even just doing the red carpet before … I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh.’ There’s … masses of people, waiting for me,” Clark added. “Just the excitement from people maybe from Indiana or have traveled, just excited to see me and excited to take part in the race.”
Clark was finally able to make it to the Indy 500 for the first time since joining the franchise. She was invited to be grand marshal at previous races, but scheduling conflicts prevented it from happening.
Perhaps the Indy 500 can become an annual event for Clark during her time in Indiana.
