PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — Some people call pest control. Dr. Oz apparently had RFK Jr. on speed dial.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. posted a video on X showing himself wrangling two snakes from the patio of Dr. Mehmet Oz’s Palm Beach home, turning what might have been a quiet Florida porch moment into the latest chapter in Kennedy’s long-running wildlife side quest.
Kennedy captioned the video, “Cheryl cheerleads the removal of a pair of Black Racers from Dr Oz’s patio,” though the audio suggests “cheerleads” may be doing some heavy lifting. His wife, actress Cheryl Hines, could be heard urging him to stop as Kennedy picked up the snakes with his bare hands.
“Honey, honey. Let them go,” Hines said in the clip. “Bobby, Bobby. Please.”
Oz, meanwhile, appeared to provide the color commentary, noting the snakes had been mating and asking whether they were biting. Kennedy confirmed they were, while continuing to hold them like a man who had somehow mistaken a Cabinet post for a nature show audition.

The snakes were identified as black racers, a nonvenomous species commonly found throughout Florida. The Florida Museum of Natural History says racers are not dangerous to people or pets, but they will bite defensively if grabbed or pinned — which, in this case, appears to have been their main objection.
The video quickly drew attention online, with viewers reacting to the unusual patio rescue and Kennedy’s calm handling of two irritated reptiles.
It is not Kennedy’s first public animal encounter. Earlier this month, he posted about rescuing a starling at Dulles Airport, and in 2024 shared video of himself relocating a rattlesnake from his California driveway.
For now, Oz’s patio appears to be snake-free, Hines appears to have survived the stress, and Kennedy has added another unofficial title to his résumé: secretary of health, human services and surprise reptile removal.
