Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby scored a goal for Canada, which shut out the United States, 4-0, in a quarterfinal round game of the International Ice Hockey Federation’s (IIHF) World Championship tournament at BCF Arena in Fribourg, Switzerland, on Thursday.
Opening the contest on the left wing of the top line, Crosby logged 17:22 of ice time on 20 shifts, had five shots and was 3 for 3 on faceoffs.
Penguins defenseman Parker Wotherspoon started the contest on the left side of Canada’s top pairing. Clocking 17:32 of ice time on 23 shifts, Wotherspoon accumulated two penalty minutes.
For the United States, Penguins defenseman Connor Clifton opened the contest on the right side of the third pairing. Logging 16:32 of ice time on 23 shifts, Clifton also had two penalty minutes.
Penguins forward Tommy Novak began the contest on the left wing of the top line. During 12:38 of ice time on 19 shifts, Novak was 1 for 8 (12.5%) on faceoffs.
