Aliyah Boston remains one of the best forward-centers in the WNBA today. The Indiana Fever star, who was an MVP candidate and an All-Star last season, is averaging 16.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game this 2026.

Like any other athlete, though, Boston has had her fair share of off nights. In fact, in the Fever’s second game of the season against the Los Angeles Sparks, she recorded just four points (all from free throws) and went 0-of-3 from the field. Making matters worse, she fouled out after playing only 22 minutes.

Boston is doing her best to manage her behavior whenever she’s having a bad game, but it’s still a work in progress. That being said, she’s often critical of herself and gives herself a harsh message whenever she’s not performing to her standard.

“I’m definitely getting better, but I usually start there. Like I usually start at, ‘You suck,'” Boston shared when asked about having off nights and how she handles herself.

Boston also shared her perspective on why it’s so frustrating for her whenever she struggles offensively.

“Sometimes, it’s just like, ‘Why?!’ I just don’t get it. It’s the easy ones. If I’m missing jumpers, I’m like, ‘Okay, whatever.’ But it’s like when I get two feet in the paint and it’s a touch shot off the spin move or front of it, I’m like, ‘Oh no, this is silly. This is a joke.'”

The three-time All-Star did say that she hasn’t really been that critical of herself this year, but it’s still early in the season with plenty of games left to play. Having said that, it’ll be interesting to see if Boston can avoid any crash-out moments during games.
