SOUTHEAST – Putnam County’s Morefar Back O’Beyond Golf Club has been described as one of the “Twelve Insanely Private Golf Clubs You Will Never get to Play.”
The 345-acre club on the Southeast-Danbury border is being reshaped, reseeded, and resodded.
Southeast officials are reviewing plans for a new clubhouse, four new bedroom units, a meeting venue, general manager’s house, an activity barn, a fitness and wellness center along with the redevelopment of the existing 18-hole course which is the largest undertaking the 60-year old club has taken at one time making its grounds more user friendly.
Meanwhile, officials in Danbury have approved the construction of a driving range, new greens, a 3,600 square foot golf cart barn and a 1,400 square foot range hut on the Connecticut portion of the club.
Golfers said the improvements and renovations are long overdue.
Robert Dorsch noted, “Morefar has been stuck in the 1960’s and 1970’s for far too long.”
