This week, the Houston Rockets organization unveiled plans for a massive renovation project that will reshape Houston’s home arena over the next two years. According to reporting from RocketsWire, the project is expected to cost approximately $180 million.
The upgrades include everything from a new glass atrium and expanded gathering spaces to renovated suites, improved hospitality areas and a significantly larger team store.

Through rebuilding years, lottery picks, coaching changes, and plenty of growing pains, the Rockets have been reinventing themselves, and now they get to decide what comes next. It makes sense that the next investment would be an arena that’s just as transformed.
Houston pushed its chips toward the center of the table last year with Kevin Durant. The team is coming off its most successful stretch of basketball in years. Expectations have changed, both inside the organization and out.
Construction is expected to begin following the 2025-26 season and wrap up before the start of the 2027-28 campaign. Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta will allegedly personally fund nearly half of the project.
By the time the renovation is complete, the Rockets hope the arena looks very different, and if everything goes according to plan, the team might look a little different too.
