WHITEWATER, Wis. — A 19-year-old man is in custody in connection with multiple overnight vehicle break-ins and residential burglaries reported this month in Whitewater, police said Friday afternoon.
The Whitewater Police Department Detective Bureau identified two suspects during an ongoing investigation. Both were taken into custody without incident in Sheboygan.
Detectives identified the 19-year-old man as one of the suspects. The second suspect was not identified by police and could face pending charges connected to the case as the investigation continues.
After the arrests, detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in Sheboygan Falls, where police said they recovered additional evidence related to the Whitewater crimes.
The 19-year-old man is being held at the Sheboygan County Jail and will be transferred to the Walworth County Jail at a later date, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of the following offenses:
Felon in possession of a firearmBurglaryTheft of a firearmTheftFour counts of unauthorized use of an individual’s personal identifying information or documentsFinancial transaction card crimesTrespassingDisorderly conduct
Police said no further information will be released at this time because the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Police urged residents to continue locking their vehicles, residential doors and windows and to remove valuables from vehicles.
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Police Department, Sheboygan Police Department, Sheboygan County MEG Unit, Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, Sheboygan Falls Police Department and the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation assisted with the investigation.
