Beginning with Sunday’s preseason opener against the Dolphins, the Bears have attached game themes to all 10 of their 2025 home contests.

“We want to provide a world class experience when you come to Soldier Field,” said Bears vice president of fan development and brand marketing Sarah Smith. “And we want to meet our fans where they’re at and celebrate all different walks of life and the platforms that are important to them and to the club. Themes are a great way to centralize efforts around that.”

Sunday’s preseason opener versus Miami—which kicks off at noon—will be a “Kids Game,” one of two new themes the Bears will employ this year. Fans under the age of 18 will be able to participate in kids-related activities throughout the concourse and sign up for the Bears Kids Club by Jewel-Osco and Baby Bears by Advocate Health Care programs for free. The Bears and Advocate Health Care are bringing their 4th Annual Baby Bears Crawl to Soldier Field for the Preseason Kids Game. The babies will crawl their way into the south end zone for a chance to win a prize pack from Crate & Kids, Jewel-Osco and more

In addition, the Bears will introduce a kids meal box brought to you by Jewel-Osco—the team’s version of a happy meal—that will be available all season.

“It’s new for us,” Smith said. “We want to ensure we are catering to families and providing a food and beverage experience that fits their needs.”

The Kids Game is an important theme and large organization-wide initiative for the Bears.

“It’s instrumental for us,” Smith said, “as we think about, ‘How do we cultivate that next generation of fans?’ We want kids making core memories and sharing those experiences with their families and then growing up to become Bears fans.

“It can start with something like the Kids Game, giving them that tailored interaction with our brand. It’s much more than what’s happening on the field; it’s connecting with those fans and building that relationship—providing them with a unique gameday experience that’s going to have them feeling closer to the Bears.”

The other new game theme the Bears are introducing in 2025 is “Celebrating Women and Girls in Sports,” at their Sunday, Nov. 23 contest against the Steelers.

It’s part of the same initiative that includes the inaugural Celebrating Women and Girls in Sports Day being held Aug. 13 during training camp at Halas Hall. That event next Wednesday will be highlighted by the team’s first-ever Women in Sports Media Career Expo, in partnership with the Chicago Bears Women’s Advisory Board. The initiative celebrates the role of women and girls in sports, from rising athletes to emerging front office professionals.

“We’ll be utilizing that opportunity to highlight all of the work we’ve done and the relationships we’ve built in the girls flag football space and how that program has really evolved over the years due to all the work from the Bears in the community,” Smith said. “We really want to celebrate that and use our platform to highlight what great athletes we have.”

The initiative won’t only benefit girls flag football players.

“It’s also about shining a light on the wide range of opportunities for women in sports and encouraging productive conversations early,” Smith said. “We want girls to see that there are exciting, sustainable careers in this industry — whether or not they ever have a football in their hand.”

The kickoff game theme for the Bears’ regular season opener against the Vikings Monday night, Sept. 8, will be “Alumni Weekend,” which will include a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the famed 1985 Super Bowl XX championship team. Several members of that squad are expected to attend the game.

The theme for the Sunday, Sept. 21 contest versus the Cowboys will be “Latino Heritage Month.” Fans will receive a wearable flag, while T-shirts commemorating the occasion will be available for purchase at the Soldier Field Pro Shops as well as online for fans not able to attend the game.

To the Bears, all of their 2025 game themes are more than just one day events.

“We’re really looking at themes as more holistic initiatives on behalf of the organization that can live outside of just that one game day,” Smith said, “and what are ways that we can engage with our fans and tie together the work that we’re doing from a community perspective to game presentation to be as impactful as possible.”
