As always, expect intense attention on the newest names to join Texas football this upcoming season. In 2026, among those names is a familiar one: defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, who’s on his second stint leading that side of the ball for the Longhorns in Austin; last time, for former national championship-winning coach Mack Brown, while this time, for Steve Sarkisian.
“Elite, consistent production. Period. End of sentence. Then I followed it up with, ‘I don’t really care how much NIL money you got. I care how you practice every day and how you produce every day. Every decision we make is about winning,” Muschamp recently told On3 in an interview.
And winning is something Muschamp is familiar with, too.
