HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — Wild Wing’s golf course in Myrtle Beach remains closed for a four-month restoration project aimed at returning the Jeff Brauer-Larry Nelson layout to top form.
The project includes rebuilt greens, restored pin locations, renovated bunkers, improved drainage and new forward tees on 16 holes.
The ninth hole’s “Valley of Sin” will also return.
Architect Jeff Brauer said the planned changes were designed to help create a more accessible and enjoyable experience for everyday golfers.
“We look at the visuals as equally important to how it plays. The Myrtle Beach golfer isn’t looking for the super challenge of a PGA tour. So you know, these greens, there’s a way to roll it on, the targets, the fairways are wide, the greens are big. And then again what they I think take away, the memorability is that each hole has something different about it.”
Wild Wing’s clubhouse is also expected to see significant upgrades.
The pro shop will be redesigned with a more upscale-casual atmosphere.
The grill area will transition into a sports bar-style venue, featuring an updated menu and golf simulators.
The course is expected to reopen in late September, just in time for Myrtle Beach’s peak fall season.
