Oscar nominee and multi-Emmy nominee Kristen Wiig is set to star opposite Jonah Hill in his directed and written Warner Bros original comedy, Cut Off.
Warners is getting this one up and ready quite quickly with the pic shooting this fall, set for a global theatrical release of July 17, 2026. Cut Off will share marquees that weekend with Universal’s Christopher Nolan directed epic, The Odyssey. Already, the production has a $10M California tax credit for what’s planned to be a $49M production.
The pic, which is being co-written by Ezra Woods, follows two rich siblings who are cut off from their parents. Strong Baby’s Matt Dines and Ali Goodwin are producing alongside Hill.
Warner Bros production execs Jesse Ehrman and Zach Hamby are overseeing for the project.
Wiig stars and executive produces season two of Apple TV+ comedy series, Palm Royale, which is returning this fall. Her performance in season one earned her an Emmy nomination – one of 12 in her career – including a recent nod for co-writing the original song “Harper and Will Go West” for the award-winning documentary Will & Harper. Wiig will next be seen as the villain in Universal’s upcoming family film Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie, hitting theaters September 26. She was also nominated for an Original Screenplay Oscar back in 2012 for $324M-plus global grossing comedy hit, Bridesmaids. The multihyphenate and SNL alum is repped by CAA and Karl Austen.

Hill co-wrote, directed, and produced the upcoming Apple comedy Outcome, starring Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz, and Matt Bomer which will release spring of 2026. This year, Strong Baby produced the Amazon/A24 series Overcompensating, starring Benito Skinner, which premiered this spring to rave reviews, as well as the acclaimed HBO docuseries The Mortician. Hill most recently directed the critically acclaimed Netflix documentary Stutz, and made his feature directorial debut with Mid90s for A24.
