Luke Hill is one of if not the biggest riser amongst prospects in the Guardians system this season. It doesn’t take a genius to look at his FanGraphs page and see that he is slashing .286/.436/.594 with a 1.030 OPS and a 159 WRC+ between High A and AA. He is also walking more than he is striking out and is tied for second in the organization with 10 Home Runs. We’ve seen a plethora of college bats destroy High A pitching in the past, but the advanced data makes me think Hill may be for real.
The Guardians drafted Hill in the 4th round of the 2025 draft out of Ole Miss. The scouting report on him was similar to a lot of Guardians draft picks the last few years, high contact skills with good plate discipline and the ability to control the strike zone. The one thing that was missing? Power. He never hit more than 8 homers in a season in college and was given a 45 MLB grade. This is what makes him so exciting, because he is showing those same traits, while showing way more power than advertised. Not only is the power showing up in game, but he also has a 90th percentile exit velocity of 106 mph, which is well above league average. He also has a HardHit% of 54% and an elite chase rate of 13%, showing that his plate discipline has indeed translated from college.

Luke Hill is one of the prospects I am most interested in watching over the next few months in AA. If he continues to hit the way he has for the rest of the season, we could be talking about a top 10 prospect in the system.
