Division leading Mariners open 10-game road trip in Motown against the surging Tigers
Off their first series sweep in a month, the Detroit Tigers return home to Comerica Park on Friday night to begin a three-game weekend series against the American League West Division-leading Seattle Mariners. The Mariners saw their eight-game winning streak end on Wednesday and now set out on their longest road trip of the season in search of their fourth straight win away from home. The Tigers will start veteran left-hander Framber Valdez (2-4, 4.39 ERA) after seven winless starts while Seattle will counter with righty Bryan Woo (5-3, 3.44 ERA) who has four wins in his last five outings.
