Those just now tuning into the livestreamed bald eagle nest in Lancaster County are met with an empty nest.

That’s because the nest’s two eaglets fledged, or left the nest, Saturday morning.

After the eaglets fledge, they still typically visit the nest to get support from their parents as they continue to grow, according to the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

Fledging can also refer to the early stage in a bird’s life in which it’s developing feathers necessary for flight. Birds in that stage are also called fledglings.

The commission, in partnership with Comcast, has livestreamed this bald eagle nest with the California-based company HDOnTap since 2019. The livestream has a chat function that allows watchers to communicate with each other and talk about the eagles.

This year, the two parent eagles often referred to as Lisa and Oliver (though, naming wild animals is generally frowned upon) laid and took care of four eggs, though only two ended up being viable. In 2025, they laid three eggs and two eaglets fledged.
