The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts on Tuesday is set to announce charges in a series of murder investigations involving the Trinitarios gang.
The 26 suspects are alleged gang leaders, members and associates believed to be involved in five murders and 19 attempted murders across Essex County, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
“Today’s charges are part of a two-year-long investigation during which our office charged 56 members of the Trinitarios with RICO conspiracy and other charges to systematically dismantle and decimate the gang in Massachusetts,” U.S. Attorney Leah Foley said.
The larger investigation led to charges against dozens of people and uncovered 15 murders allegedly committed by Trinitarios members over the course of a decade.
The Trinitarios is a violent street gang believed founded in New York City in the 1990s widely considered to be one of the most brutal and dangerous operating in the country.
