Riverhead Free Library is collecting donations of books, educational supplies and other items to benefit Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck, a camp in Center Moriches for people with disabilities.

The collection is in support of an “Ability Drive” being run by a local Girl Scout who is building a book nook at the camp for her Gold Award project, according to a flyer circulated by the library. The public libraries in Center Moriches and Westhampton are also drop-off locations for the donation drive.

“This will be a quiet and cozy space where campers can read, relax and enjoy stories,” Emma, the Girl Scout building the book nook said.

Items wanted are books (picture, ASL, sensory and easy-to-read books), audio books, and story time kits; fidget and sensory items (spinners, stress balls and pop-its); educational supplies such as pencils, crayons, coloring books, workbooks, white board and markers; flash cards (math, site words, picture-to-word matching, Braille alphabet cards, ASL and daily life cards; other items, such as adaptive board games with large pieces or easy instructions, reading pens, timers or visual clocks and lined paper.

Drop off items at the library during its regular business hour, now through Aug. 17. Items can also be purchased using the Scout’s Amazon wish list at https://short-link.me/16ZKo.
