A Kansas-based internet provider is establishing its presence in Emporia.

IdeaTek says it is making a $14 million investment for a 100-percent fiber network at symmetrical upload and download speeds of up to 2.5 gigabits per second. Based in Buhler, IdeaTek is also promising unlimited data, connections without contracts and local customer service. IdeaTek says it plans to give 10,000 homes and businesses reliability and bandwidth they will need for years.

Construction is beginning “immediately” as IdeaTek looks to begin connecting neighborhoods across town this fall.

IdeaTek started in 1999 and is now serving over 120 communities across Kansas. It says it has also built out over 6,500 miles of fiber and built 150 fixed wireless towers as it continues to expand.

IdeaTek is also involved in building the Freestate Middle Mile Network after a groundbreaking ceremony at Emporia State University earlier this year.
