A deputy’s vehicle was one of several cars towed away from a Sanford apartment complex with serious damage early Wednesday morning.

Before 5 a.m., police responded to the Oak Branch apartment complex on Oak Branch Lane off U.S. 1 in Sanford.

The WRAL Breaking News Tracker saw four vehicles were damaged, including a Lee County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle with severe damage to its front and tire, and an SUV that was also heavily damaged.

Some of the cars appeared to be parked when they were hit.

Police were talking to neighbors, and a portion of the area was blocked off with yellow tape. It appeared there were tire marks and oil in the parking lot.

WRAL News is working to learn what happened, if anyone was injured and if any arrests were made.
