It’s hard to believe it’s taken this long, but it looks like someone committed a major Labubu theft. Early Wednesday morning, a band of thieves reportedly stole thousands of dollars’ worth of Labubus from a Los Angeles County shop.
The store, One Stop Sales in La Puente, California, shared security footage of the heist, which happened at about 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, on Instagram. In the video, glass can be heard shattering as four people in masks and hoods are seen entering the store and nabbing boxes of merch. In the post, the store said the burglars “took all of our inventory” and “trashed our store.” “We are still in shock,” it added.
In a statement to the Cut, the Los Angeles County sheriff’s department confirmed they responded to a burglary at the store and said the alleged LabuBurglars used a stolen Toyota Tacoma that was located shortly after the incident. “Several boxes of Labubu dolls were stolen, valued at approximately seven thousand dollars,” the sheriff’s department said. The store estimated that the cost was significantly higher — in a GoFundMe, it claimed the stolen goods were worth “more than $25k.”
It’s not clear how many Labubus were stolen, but according to the store’s website, it had a lot of them in stock — some of which were being sold for as much as $500 apiece. No news yet on who the suspects are, but I’d reckon Romy Mars had both means and motive.
